Fact is that the fuel economy is the number one thing when buying new vehicles and that is one of the reasons why Audi and other major car makers are delivering more and more of these models. Among the latest additions to the market is the 2015 Audi A6 e-tron Plug-In Hybrid that should be delivered to the Chinese market.
Reports from the German luxury car maker suggest that this hybrid will be available in China only, which is at least at the beginning. There are no plans of delivering it to other markets but it is highly possible that we will be able to see this or quite similar model available all over the world. We are still short on much information about it but we do have few details about powertrain and in which direction it will go.
Looking at the 2015 Audi A6 e-tron Plug-In Hybrid we are sure that it is based on the concept that was unveiled at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. It comes as a long wheelbase model only and FAW will cooperate in building of this model. If it comes with similar hybrid powertrain that we will be looking at the 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder unit that is paired with electric motor to boost power and lower fuel consumption. Electricity is stored in Lithium Ion battery pack.
Review Of 2015 Audi A6 e-tron Plug-In Hybrid
Details about capacity of battery pack, power of electric motor and gasoline unit are still not known but if the similar gasoline as a standard version comes it should offer about 240 hp. If the same power is delivered like it was the case with the concept than total power of about 306 hp is quite possible. For the concept we could also hear that it would offer about 31 miles or 50 km of electric range only which means that it will have about 7 to 8 kWh battery pack.
When the production starts the 2015 Audi A6 e-tron Plug-In Hybrid will be the second plug-in hybrid from the German car maker after the A3 Sportback e-tron is expected to be launched in the next few months. After this there is a great possibility that entire lineup of models is delivered with plug-in option and that those will include Q7, A6, A8 and similar. Delivery of those models is to achieve better sale results in these markets, to attract more eco concerns drivers and to meet strict global emissions standards.
One of the problems on the Chinese market is the fact that only a small number of plug-in models is sold last year. From total of about 20 million vehicles only 17.600 units are electric cars and plug-in hybrids. We were able to see incredible level of air pollution in China and even the government gives great subsidies to those that are willing to buy lower CO2 emission vehicles.

Production should start in the next few months while the sales should begin during September or similar. We still do not have any details about the price of this vehicle or the amount of subsidies that will be offered by Chinese government.
