Although the second generation of the Porsche Cayenne model has only been in the market for less than three years, the German car maker is at it again and is now working on what is now set to be the 3rd Generation of this vehicle. For us, one of the most interesting models certainly will be the 2015 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid.
This vehicle is set to join its segment of luxury style SUV models offering the same outstanding performance and packing impressive features like all its predecessors. There are no compromises when it comes to Porsche and delivery of Cayenne but we will have to wait little longer to see what will be the final result of the 2015th model.
2015 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid Review
It comes with a number of changes in design too as noted from the prototype spotted undergoing tests. Although the car manufacturer has taken steps to camouflage it in an attempt to conceal its appearance until it is official unveiling time, there are a number of styling changes quite prominent in its exterior look. You should expect changes like new bumpers and intakes, redesigned daytime running lights, taillights and exhaust tips.
Porsche has not set the official date for the unveiling of its new S Hybrid model; however, there is no doubt that this model is set to be revealed very soon. This will probably be at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show or the New York Auto show. Both events are expected to take place in April 2014.
Under the hood, Porsche will deliver pretty much the same setup like we will be getting from Panamera Hybrid. We do expect to see 3.6 liter twin turbo unit in combination with electric motor. For the hybrid power, the 2015 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid uses the same electric powered motor from the 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid. This electric motor is capable of delivering a maximum of 95 Horsepower. The Panamera Hybrid also had a top speed of 84mph when running in electric mode; Cayenne successor should therefore be able to offer a similar or slightly lower performance being an heavier model. The new Cayenne S Hybrid should therefore be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in slightly under 6.1 seconds and achieve top speeds of up to 170mph.
Specs Of 2015 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid
The combined horsepower of both the electric motor and v-6 unit comes to a total power delivery of about 420 horsepower. With this setup we will be getting the V8 power and the four cylinder efficiency which is a significant improvement for a SUV of this size.
New Porsche cayenne should have a 9.4 kWh Lithium-ion pack. This gives it enough power to achieve an electric driving rage of 18 to 20 miles; the electric power motor gives this car an impressive fuel economy too, a rating of up to 75 mpg. Another quite important figure is the torque and we will be getting almost 900 pound-feet of torque.
If you are looking to own this car, you should expect to see it in the market towards the end of this year, you should also prepare to part with a sum in the range of $100.000 and above. Price is pretty high but we are getting one luxury SUV with significantly improved fuel efficiency and great performances.
