Looking at the images that we have here for the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta it is pretty hard to notice what things are changed when we compare this model with previous versions. More changes are introduced to the powertrain that should be delivered with well-known TDI unit also but this time with even better fuel economy.
Things that are also changed with the delivery of this redesigned model, as the Volkswagen promises it is, include small changes to the headlamps and tail lamps. To further improve performances and fuel efficiency few aerodynamic tweaks have been implemented but these are quite small changes so it is hard for us to call it a redesign.
2015 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
Just like with few previous versions we have the proven 2.0 liter TDI four cylinder unit. This turbocharged diesel engine comes as a new version but there will be no changes to power that it delivers. If everything remains at the same level we do expect to see about 150 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque available but with the increased efficiency. When it is combined with six speed manual transmission according to Volkswagen it will be possible to achieve 45 mpg on highway which is quite respective figure and comparable with many hybrids.
Even with previous model of Jetta we were able to hear and see impressive fuel economy results. With new and “redesigned” version we are pretty sure that many drivers will be able to get 50 mpg or even slightly higher on the highway. With the power and torque that it delivers it most certainly will be interesting to drive. Other models that will be in the lineup will be offered with 1.8 liter and 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline units with more power and better performances than the diesel unit but also with significantly lower fuel economy.
More interesting version for site like this one will certainly be the hybrid model. There are still no details about fuel economy but the combination of 1.4 liter turbocharged gasoline unit and electric motor certainly sounds great. When we combine it with few aero tweaks it could offer some really nice performances and fuel efficiency results. This and GLI model will come with standard LED lamps that are optional on other models.
When it comes to the interior we can notice changes in this segment even they are not huge. It is easier to notice differences here and the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta offers new multifunctional color display that is far better than before and dominates the interior. Driver assistance technology available here is on higher level and the chrome trim that comes on mid and high range versions certainly improves the overall looks.
Redesigned 2015 Volkswagen Jetta
We can easily agree that all these changes that are offered with the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta are not significant and that we expected even more. There is no doubt that it is slightly refreshed and that this will be enough until the all new model is delivered in the next few years.
