Time has come, and we celebrate it, that most car makers are deeply into ecology questions and are trying to offer more efficient and cleaner vehicles. One of the latest about which we are getting information’s is the Renault Eolab that will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show that will start in few weeks.
Without a doubt the Renault Eolab will be a great technology competitor to the Volkswagen XL1 that was delivered few years ago. One thing that differ these two is that XL1 brings pretty strange shape and styling that certainly is not that likeable like it is the case with the car from Renault. On the paper the XL1 needs about one liter of fuel per 100 km meaning that it can return 260 mpg which is more than any other car on the market. This efficiency could be successfully matched by the Eolab.
Extensive usage of aluminum and magnesium allows this car, or better say concept, to keep the total weight at only 400 kg which is about 880 pounds. Thankfully to significantly lower weight than any other similarly sized vehicle we are getting great base for a highly efficient vehicle like this one. To further help out with efficiency a lot of time has been devoted to the aerodynamics optimization and improved hybrid powertrain that is consisted of gasoline and electric motor.
Renault Eolab Concept
When you have such a light car you can be sure that it will return great fuel economy plus that it will be quite great on road when it comes to handling and similar. Battery pack is small but still manages to offer about 37 miles of range when driven on electric power only. There is no doubt that the Renault Eolab will be one of those cars that will show the direction in which Renault go in the next ten years and similar.
We could hear from the PR of Renault that the Renault Eolab comes with about 100 new technologies that have high potential of getting into production cars. All these improvements and changes will certainly improve future models that this French car maker will launch. Added to this we could also hear that it is quite possible that model similar to this one, when it comes to technology, could be introduced and mass produced in the next ten years and similar.
Review Of Renault Eolab
There are still many things that we do not know about the Renault Eolab and powertrain that it will be offering, since it is a concept there is a great possibility that it will stay that way. What we do know is that with this low weight it could be easily moved even with powertrain that is significantly less powerful than what we are seeing in currently available cars of this and similar size. Less powerful powertrain again means lower weight of it which results in higher fuel efficiency and it goes on and on.
One of the most interesting things about this concept and the car that could come from it is the price that it would carry. Usage of aluminum and magnesium costs and it costs a lot but it is the case with all new and modern technologies. One of the things that we like is the fact that it comes with a pretty much conventional design and looks which is much more appealing than what the Volkswagen XL1 offered when it was launched.
