The 2015 Acura RLX Hybrid promises to take the hybrid model to new heights via improvements and innovations designed to deliver more power and continue to provide great fuel economy and performance. The new Acura will be graced with the same V6 as in previous models.
Also, this time around, there will be batteries and electric motors added to the mix. In fact, in terms of fuel economy, the 2015 Acura expects an ambitious 30 miles per gallon. And yes, this would be a super charged 25 percent improvement over the currently available RLX. The RLX topped off at 24 miles per gallon.

Increased power is also promised with the new 2015 model. The total system output is expected to be about 377 horse power. By contrast, the front-wheel-drive RLX delivers 310 hp. How do these improvements come about? The system is equipped with three electric motors and a battery pack. This is combined with the 3.5 liter direct-injection V6 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. The V6 drives only the front wheels.
An electric motor powers each of the rear wheels. The separate motors for each wheel can make power use rise and fall according to how the RLX is being maneuvered. To go further into hybrid engines, it must be noted that they are designed to improve fuel economy and increase engine power. Another great aspect of this hybrid system are its regenerative braking. The electric motor applies resistance to the car’s movement and acts as a generator. This causes the car wheel’s revolutions to slow down. In turn, the energy generated from the wheels helps power the motor. In traditional vehicles the energy from the wheel is wasted, goes nowhere, and contributes nothing to the car’s overall performance and fuel efficiency.
But in the case of hybrid engines, this energy is automatically converted into electricity. In turn, the electricity generated is stored in a battery until it is needed by the electric motor. The electric motor also provides the car with extra energy that can be used in assisting it. This will be applied in cases when the quick acceleration is needed on the highway when you’re about to pass another vehicle, or if you’re approaching a hilly road, and need additional power and speed to make the climb.
The extra power provided by the electric engines and accompanying battery makes it possible to have a much smaller basic gasoline engine under the hood. This hybrid also have automatic start/stop system that reacts as soon as the car comes to a stop and while the brakes are applied and turns engine back as soon as the brake pedal is released. This saves the energy that is lost by idling. Acura hopes the new model will continue to broaden the appeal of hybrids, due to its emphasis on improved power and efficiency. The suggested retail price for the 2015 Acura RLX Hybrid is $59,000.
Release Date Of 2015 Acura RLX Hybrid
We are still short for the release date info but we do expect to see it officially presented in the next few months, most likely during the summer of this year.
